List of Equipment for Diving

For a safe dive, it is necessary to use a range of equipment that will provide tranquility, comfort and security, of course, the diver.

See below for a more detailed description about each of these facilities:

Snorkel

Snorkel is a tube about thirty centimeters that contains a nozzle and allows the diver to breathe the air through your mouth, without lifting his head out of the water. The most current have a valve (purge valve) which allows respiration and suction at different stages. They also have a “wave” device on the external end assists in diving in maritime waters.

Diving mask

The diving mask gives a clear view of the bottom of the sea to the diver, because the light rays cannot be focused without the presence of a layer of air before the eyes, allowed by the mask.Another curious effect of the view of the sea is increasing and the apparent approach of objects in proportion to 25% higher and fence until 2/3 closer to that reality. That way, if a diver count that saw a fish of a meter, you must understand something around 75 cm. Effect known as refraction.

Compressed air cylinder

What differentiates the ability and the amount of air inside the cylinder, in addition, of course, your size is the pressure used in your filling. The more cylinders used by divers weigh twelve to fifteen pounds and store approximately 2400 litres of compressed air. The mechanism that allows you to breathe under water d is the regulator. Mandatory, when the cylinder is refilled with another type of gas mixture, other than compressed air, is due to present a visual identification of its own, prompting the diver about which is the gas that is contained in the cylinder. The relationship time/drum is variable because it depends on the depth (pressure the diver) and respiratory rate.

Insulating clothing

Insulating clothes prevent the loss of body heat and protect the skin from burns, poisonous animals or cuts of stones. They are usually made of neoprene, a kind of rubber that contains thousands of tiny bubbles in your interior. Thanks to this characteristic, the water that enters the clothes don’t come out as soon as it is heated by the body temperature and creates an insulating barrier between the diver and the liquid medium in which it is wrapped. There are also dry clothes made of neoprene or Vulcanized rubber that prevent the passage of water into clothes. Are heavily used in places inhospitable and very cold, as in caves, deep dives, in altitudes and under the ice or during prolonged activities as in the case of commercial diving.

For the “dry clothes” specific technical knowledge is required, and the various recreational diving certification in the world feature their own courses.

Diving knife

Diving knife is considered an item of diving safety. If the diver be tangled up in the background in some rope, line or fishing net, the knife will be crucial to get him out of trouble. Diving knife can still be used as a hammer, screwdriver, hacksaw and even as unit of measure. Its use in diving, especially, should not be to affect sea creatures. However, in practice of spearfishing through snorkeling, the knife is useful to cut and remove fish caught.

Weight belt

Equipment used to compensate for the buoyancy caused mainly by fire suit and body fat. The amount of ballast (lead) varies from diver to diver, depending on your natural buoyancy that.

Fins

Since we do not use your arms in swimming underwater, the movement of the legs is responsible for the displacement of the diver.

Made of rubber or silicone, the fins can be basically two models: open heel (open fins), which almost always requires the use of a boot on the inside of the fin; and heel closed (closed fins).

Variable size, depending on the use, as a rule we have oversize (jumbo), for snorkeling, since it requires the diver’s speed to achieve the desired depth, since there is no air supply beyond the limits of the lungs; and the smaller and larger, which provide greater force, which is needed when anything with complete equipment (clothes, cylinder, vest, weight belt).

B/c

Safety equipment, the b/c it is necessary to maintain a perfect buoyancy of the diver. The equilibrating courset consists of a vest with pouches which inflate to air as the diver triggers an own button (power), connected to a low pressure hose to the cylinder. Inflating the vest, naturally because of air in the bags, will tend to float, and becomes safety equipment for buoyancy of the diver on the surface.

Similarly, the diver can deflate the vest, pressing another command button. With such a maneuver, let the air escape, decreasing the capacity of floating, sinking as a result. A perfect setting by the diver, makes the plunge in addition to safe, extremely comfortable.

Flashlight

Of compulsory use in night dives, when, even if it requires more than a flashlight as safety equipment, is also used during the day for better visualization of the interior of burrows. When the flashlight is pointed at a coral or sea creature she reveals your true color because the deeper colors are lost due to the refraction of light. The only way to see the real colour is through an alternative source of light (flashlight.

Computers

A dive computer consists of electronic equipment that indicates the depth at which the diver is working out extremely fast calculations and pointing the time that the diver can stay at that depth without the need to undergo stops stops. The dive computer also elaborate calculations to the decompressive, indicating the number of stops, the depth and the time required for the Elimination of the residual nitrogen, thus avoiding the occurrence of decompression sickness air embolism. The dive computer indicates the surface intervals, calculate the time of successive dips and alert to the impossibility of the diver to fly soon after a few dives, depending on the depth reached and the duration of these dives.
