With this new range Power, Michelin offers a serious alternative to the tires from the competition: Continental GP 4000S or Hutchinson fusion 5. declining versions of bicycle tires in three models, the rider can choose according your practice and its weather.
A range of additional tires
The French tire specialist firm offers a new range not to replace the famous Michelin PRO4, but to complement it by improving the qualities that have made the brand famous.
The range of road bike tires Michelin Power comes in three models to improve the qualities of the previous version include:
- Competition in the Power 23 and 25 announcing an improvement in rolling resistance by 25%.
- Power Endurance 23/25/28 providing the wear resistance of 20%.
- The All Season Power 23/25/28 in improving Grip 15%.
Note that it is not intended for tubeless tires or hose for now in this range.
Designed and developed in France, the Michelin Power tires are manufactured in Thailand. Our test will cover the two most widely used models compete and cyclosport. Side and balance weight, tire Competition is announced in 215g and 230g Endurance in both 25mm section.

Michelin Power Endurance
I begin with a pair of Endurance, and first difficulty, installation is not easy. It takes grip for failing to use tire iron, but personally I prefer because it reduces the risk off the rim in the event of rapid puncture. Please note also the direction of rotation there was not the Pro4.
The tires have a structure on the sides in the form of relatively spaced rafters and intended to allow optimum contact with the road bike lights, a bit like the slats of a car tire. A reinforcing aramid at the top of the tire increases the wear resistance and puncture. A wear indicator is also present.

Michelin Power Competition
Power Competition for the assembly model is just as tricky, but the tire gets in place. On this model of bicycle tire, Michelin has optimized tread component materials to the specific gum reduces rolling resistance and improves grip. The goal is to make a tire for the requirement of the competition.
At start we realize immediately that the Michelin tire Power Competition is more dynamic than the Pro4, we forget quickly the 25mm section. Its performance and the gain compared to the latter are difficult to quantify without a very specific test protocol but the sensation we see that it has a smoother rolling. Similarly, the feeling is that there is less scattered strength when I transmit the power to the rear wheel, or when I take support on the handlebar / front wheel for a raise or a sprint.
The behavior is more dynamic, more direct. The grip / dry grip is incredible because the tire remains comfortable at 7.5 bar. It will nevertheless be a good practice to perform a pressure drop on wet roads. I found more cuts with a pair of Michelin Power Endurance tires, but the roads were not always the same and this is probably the price to pay for an eraser for better performance. The wear is normal and regular, not flat on the top of the tread.
